Soaring over the 150-meter-deep Sacsara canyon on high-tension steel cables is one of the premier highlights of Day 3. Understanding how your harness, pulleys, and carabiners function ensures you can relax and focus on the exhilarating views.

Anatomy of Professional Zip Line Gear

Commercial adventure zip-lines utilize dual-cable redundant systems and industrial-strength climbing hardware manufactured to international CE and UIAA standards.

Hardware Element Engineering Specification Primary Function Safety Backup System
Tandem Pulley Trolley Hardened stainless steel dual wheels Glides smoothly along the main 1/2″ steel cable Secondary backup carabiner attached directly to wire
Seat & Chest Harness Reinforced 45mm nylon webbing with auto-buckles Distributes body weight across pelvis and torso Double-stitched structural tie-in loops
Locking Carabiners Drop-forged alloy steel with screw-gate / twist-lock Connects harness lanyards to the pulley trolley Two independent carabiners facing opposite directions
Full-Coverage Helmet ABS outer shell with EPS impact foam Protects head against cable contact or platform bumps Adjustable chin strap and rear tension dial

Pre-Launch Personal Safety Checklist

  • The Two-Finger Harness Test: When pulled snug, you should not be able to slide more than two flat fingers between the harness leg loops and your thighs.
  • Empty All Pockets: Secure keys, phones, and sunglasses inside zippered daypack pockets. Items falling from 150 meters cannot be retrieved from the dense jungle canyon below.
  • Tie Long Hair Securely: Long hair must be tied in a low ponytail and tucked beneath your helmet collar to prevent any chance of hair tangling in the pulley wheel.
  • Follow Guide Hand Signals: As you approach the arrival platform at 60 km/h, watch the receiving guide. A raised hand signals you to sit deep and let the gravity brake absorb your momentum.

Safety Rule

Never grab the steel cable above your head while in motion. Keep your hands securely on the trolley handle or resting on your harness straps at all times.

Exciting Flight Facts

  • Six Unique Lines: The Santa Teresa canyon circuit spans six distinct cables totaling over 2,500 meters of aerial flight across rivers, waterfalls, and mountain cliffs.
  • Weight Guidelines: The circuit accommodates participants weighing between 35 kg (77 lbs) and 120 kg (265 lbs), ensuring safe speeds across all spans.
